A Russian scientist who worked on hypersonic technology has been jailed for 15 years after being accused of treason.
Alexander Shiplyuk is the latest in a string of experts linked to research that could be applied to next-generation missiles to have been arrested in recent years.
He was accused of passing state secrets related to hypersonic technology to a foreign power, which the scientist denied.
Mr Shiplyuk was detained at a high-security penal colony following a trial held behind closed doors.
Arrested in August 2022, Tass described Mr Shiplyuk as a leading expert in his field and a member of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
The 57-year-old was director of the Institute of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics at the Siberian branch of the academy.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sissi on Wednesday called for a ceasefire in the besieged Gaza Strip, stressing that the two countries share a common approach to the conflict.
Al-Sissi was in the Turkish capital Ankara on Wednesday on n his first visit to the country since he took office in 2014, amid a rapprochement between the two countries.
His visit to Turkey lays the foundation for further cooperation between the two countries, al-Sissi told a joint press conference with Erdogan.
The two leaders signed deals in areas ranging from trade, energy to defence, among others, Erdogan said.

Putin ready to resume Russian gas deliveries to Europe
Moscow is prepared to continue gas supplies to Europe through Ukraine after the current transit agreement expires at the end of the year, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in Vladivostok on Thursday.
"We and the Gazprom company want to meet our obligations with respect to our clients, with whom there are long-term contracts," Putin told a plenary session of the Eastern Economic Forum in the city on Russia's Pacific coast.
He noted that Russia was not in a position to compel Ukraine to extend the transit agreement and that European countries, who could exert pressure on Kiev, were showing little interest.
In addition, he said that Poland had shut down the Yamal pipeline carrying gas through Belarus to Poland and Germany and that Germany had not connected up to the Nord Stream 2 pipeline under the Baltic Sea.
In fact, it was Russia that shut down deliveries through the Yamal pipeline in May 2022 ..
