Romans 8:28
"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose."

Simple Life Explanation:
Think of a puzzle—sometimes, individual pieces don’t make sense, but when the whole picture comes together, it’s beautiful. This verse reminds us that even when life seems confusing, God is working behind the scenes to turn things around for our good if we trust Him.

Matthew 11:28
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."

Simple Life Explanation:
Life can feel exhausting, like carrying a load too heavy to bear. Jesus is saying, “Give me your burdens, and I’ll give you rest.” It’s like having a friend who helps you carry your groceries when your arms are full—He wants to ease our struggles if we turn to Him.

Philippians 4:6-7
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

Simple Life Explanation:
Worrying is like carrying a heavy backpack all day—it wears you out. This verse reminds us that instead of stressing, we should hand our worries to God through prayer. When we do, He gives us peace that doesn’t always make sense but helps us stay calm even in tough situations.

Proverbs 3:5-6
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight."

Simple Life Explanation:
Imagine walking through a foggy road where you can’t see what’s ahead. Instead of stressing, you have a guide who knows the way. This verse tells us to trust God like that guide. Even when life doesn’t make sense, if we rely on Him instead of our own limited thinking, He will lead us in the right direction.

This verse, Hebrews 4:11, encourages us to be diligent in following God so that we can experience His promised rest—both in this life (peace and guidance) and in eternity (heaven). It warns us not to make the same mistakes as those who disobeyed God and missed out on His blessings.

Simple Life Explanation:
Imagine you have a chance to win a dream vacation, but to get there, you need to follow the right path. If you ignore the instructions and take shortcuts, you might get lost and never reach your destination.

In the same way, God offers us peace, joy, and eternal life, but we must follow Him faithfully. The verse tells us to "strive"—meaning to stay committed, make the effort, and not give up. It warns us not to be careless or rebellious like others who missed out on God's blessings because they didn’t listen.

So, it’s a reminder to stay on the right path, trust in God, and follow His ways so that we can truly enter His rest—both now and forever. 😊

This verse, James 4:15, is a reminder that we don’t have full control over our lives—God does. It teaches us to be humble and trust in God's plan instead of assuming everything will go exactly as we want.

Simple Life Explanation:
Imagine you’re planning a big trip or starting a new business. You might say, “Next year, I’ll travel the world” or “I’m going to make a lot of money with this business.” But the truth is, life is uncertain. Anything can happen—unexpected events, health issues, or changes in circumstances.

Instead of speaking as if we control everything, this verse encourages us to say, “If it’s God’s will, I’ll go on this trip” or “If God allows, my business will succeed.” It’s about recognizing that God’s plans are greater than ours and learning to trust Him with our future.

It doesn’t mean we shouldn’t make plans, but it reminds us to stay humble, flexible, and dependent on God. 😊

Russian former president Dmitry Medvedev early on Thursday mocked French President Emmanuel Macron's warning that Russia posed a threat, saying the French leader posed no threat at all and would not be missed once he stepped away from public life.

"Russia has become, as I speak to you and for years to come, a threat to France and Europe, says Macron," Medvedev, now deputy head of Russia's Security Council, wrote in English on the X media platform.

"Micron himself poses no big threat though. He'll disappear forever no later than May 14, 2027. And he won't be missed," he added, misspelling the French president's name.

Macron, in a television address on Wednesday evening, said Europe had to face up to the threat from Russia and proposed a discussion on extending the protection offered by France's nuclear arsenal to its European partners.
"Russia has become a threat for France and Europe," Macron said, adding that "to watch and do nothing would be madness."

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called his meeting at the White House last week "regrettable" on Tuesday and said he is ready to pursue peace under President Donald Trump's leadership.

Zelenskyy made the concession in a lengthy statement posted to social media on Tuesday, saying Ukraine "is ready to come to the negotiating table." He added that last week's meeting "did not go the way it was supposed to be," and he said "it is time to make things right."

"My team and I stand ready to work under President Trump’s strong leadership to get a peace that lasts," Zelenskyy wrote.

"We are ready to work fast to end the war, and the first stages could be the release of prisoners and truce in the sky — ban on missiles, long-ranged drones, bombs on energy and other civilian infrastructure — and truce in the sea immediately, if Russia will do the same. Then we want to move very fast through all next stages and to work with the US to agree a strong final deal," he added.
"We do really value how much America has done to help Ukraine maintain its sovereignty and independence. And we remember the moment when things changed when President Trump provided Ukraine with Javelins. We are grateful for this," the statement continued.

A Chinese PhD student was found guilty Wednesday in a London court of drugging and raping 10 women in England and China, as police warned there could be more than 50 other victims.

Zhenhao Zou, 28, was convicted of the attacks between 2019 and 2023 following a monthlong trial at the Inner London Crown Court. He was convicted of 11 counts of rape, with two of the offenses relating to one victim.

After more than 19 hours of deliberations, jurors concluded Zou raped three of the women in London and seven in China.

Police have only been able to identify two of the victims and said after the verdict that more than 50 other women may have fallen victim to Zou, which would make him one of the worst sex offenders in U.K. history.
Using hidden or handheld cameras to record the attacks, Zou filmed nine of the attacks as “souvenirs” and often kept a trophy box of women’s belongings.

Zou, a mechanical engineering student who was doing his PhD at University College London, claimed that the sexual interactions were consensual. He will be sentenced on June 19.

Lesotho's government says it is shocked by US President Donald Trump saying that "nobody has ever heard of" the southern African nation.

Trump, addressing the US Congress in his first speech since his return to the Oval Office, made the reference as he listed cuts made to what he said was wasteful expenditure.

"Eight million dollars to promote LGBTQI+ in the African nation of Lesotho, which nobody has ever heard of," Trump said, eliciting laughter from some US lawmakers.
A spokesperson for Lesotho's foreign affairs department told the BBC that Lesotho enjoyed "warm and cordial" relations with the US.
Lesotho is one of the biggest beneficiaries of the US's African Growth and Opportunity Act (Agoa), which gives favourable trade access to some countries to promote their economic growth.

According to the US government, the two countries traded goods worth $240m (£187m) in 2024, mostly exports from Lesotho to the US, in particular textiles and clothing.
Lesotho's Foreign Affairs Minister Lejone Mpotjoane said it was "shocking" to hear a head of state "refer to another sovereign state in that manner".

"To my surprise, 'the country that nobody has heard of' is the country where the US has a permanent mission," Mpotjoane told the BBC.

US President Donald Trump issued what he said was a “last warning” to Hamas to release all of the hostages in Gaza immediately – in a move that came just hours after the White House confirmed it was negotiating directly with the militant group.

“Release all of the hostages now, not later, and immediately return all of the dead bodies of the people you murdered, or it is OVER for you,” Trump posted on Truth Social on Wednesday, soon after meeting eight freed hostages at the White House.

Trump wrote that he would send Israel “everything it needs to finish the job,” and warned that “Not a single Hamas member will be safe if you don’t do as I say.”

The comments came just hours after the US confirmed reports that it was negotiating directly with Hamas about hostages and the Gaza ceasefire, in a move that goes against its tradition of not talking to groups it considers terrorist organizations.
The United States, which designated Hamas as a Foreign Terrorist Organization in 1997, traditionally does not speak with terrorist organizations, though there have been exceptions – both the Obama and Trump administrations negotiated with the Taliban, which was designated a terrorist organization in the wake of 9/11.

Senior retired military commanders are sounding the alarm over Iran’s nuclear capabilities and are calling on President Donald Trump to throw U.S. support behind Israel. In a letter issued by Jewish Institute for National Security of America (JINSA) and signed by 77 retired U.S. generals and admirals, they say it’s "time to let Israel finish the job against the Iranian axis."

The letter, which was issued just hours ahead of President Trump’s address to a joint session of Congress, asserts that a nuclear Iran would be a threat to U.S. national security. They warn that there is not much more time to stop Iran’s "march to the bomb," and say the Islamic Republic cannot be allowed to "cross the nuclear threshold."

"What Israel seeks from the United States is support to ensure the maximum effectiveness of its actions and manage the risk of Iranian retaliation. We should provide it expeditiously," the letter says.
The former leaders say that they do not take military action lightly and that diplomacy would be "preferable," but they doubt that Iran will participate in the talks in good faith.

"Repeated negotiations with Iran over two decades have led to one dangerous result: The world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism now stands on the cusp of developing the world’s most dangerous weapons."

Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has said vitamin A may help with the measles outbreak.
Vitamin A is used worldwide to treat children with measles, but it doesn't prevent infection.
Researchers have raised concerns that touting vitamin A mirrors anti-vaccine talking points.

In his response to the US measles outbreak, the new secretary of health, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., has raised eyebrows by touting vitamin A as a possible treatment.
At least 146 people have been sickened and one child has died from the disease, which is spreading in West Texas and New Mexico.

Kennedy, who has opposed vaccine mandates, addressed the outbreak in an op-ed for Fox News. While he acknowledged that the MMR vaccine protects against the disease, he did not explicitly urge Americans to get vaccinated, saying "the decision to vaccinate is a personal one."
Kennedy also said the CDC released new guidance on using vitamin A as a potential treatment for measles, adding that a well-balanced diet "remains a best defense against most chronic and infectious illnesses." In a subsequent Fox News interview, he suggested treating measles with cod liver oil, a supplement high in vitamin A and vitamin D.

It didn't go down well with public health workers.
