Russia and Ukraine traded blame on Friday over an attack on a gas metering station that lies in Russia’s Kursk region.
The attack on the facility in Sudzha comes just days after the US proposed both sides pause attacks on energy infrastructure.

The Russian Defense Ministry claimed Kyiv had “deliberately attacked” the station, which has been under Ukrainian control.
Moscow claims Ukrainian forces blew up the facility while “retreating from the Kursk region” with the aim of “discrediting the US president’s peace initiatives.”
Russia’s Foreign Ministry warned that it “reserves the right to respond, including with a symmetrical response” to what it claims were Ukrainian attacks on Russian energy infrastructure facilities.

Kyiv said accusations as “groundless” and claimed they are aimed at discrediting Ukraine and misleading the international community.
